MARINTEC INNOVATION 2024
Setting Sail Toward Innovation

12-13 . 12 . 2024 | Shanghai

Theme: Alternative Energy and Fuels Contribute to Low-carbon Maritime

Addressing the challenge of the low-carbon shipping means recognising that in many cases it is a matter of revolution, rather than the slow evolution to which shipping has been accustomed in the past. The introduction of alternative energy sources and fuels will be the fundamental path to achieving the decarbonisation goal. Effective collaboration is key to success.

Session I – Review and Outlook

Advancing is a revolution, collaborating is an evolution. Achieving the decarbonisation goal will require a radical rethink on a global scale. This calls for governments, financiers, shipowners, and regulators to collaborate and find innovative ways to shape the renewable energy landscape. Together we can make a difference.

Session II – Sailing Efficiency (Shipowner's Perspective)

Shipowners recognise that if they do not invest in new clean technologies, clean energy sources and digitalisation, they are going to be left behind. As the energy transition progresses, improving fuel efficiency will become even more crucial. Greater collaboration is the answer, and ship owners are ready to act.

Session III: Industry-Chain Support

The shipping industry is on a path to decarbonisation, with all parties recognising the importance of this endeavour. It encompasses all stakeholders and often supply chains and requires collaboration if significant challenges are to be overcome. These can be met together.
